Kids Stuff

At last the sun is shining, the summer holidays just around the corner and a great opportunity for parents to encourage good eating habits and plenty of activity.

Due to these alarming statistics, experts are warning that for the first time, there's a very real chance that parents could start outliving their offspring, due to obesity-related diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Eating a healthy and balanced diet is very important during childhood because it helps to establish long term healthy eating habits, as well as ensuring optimum weight, growth and bone strength.

So Lets exchange the bad for the good!

OUT WITH THE OLD..... AND IN WITH THE NEW.....

Burger, chips, beans

Chicken and sweetcorn burgers, potato wedges in their skins and beans.

Sugary cereal, fruit juice

Fresh fruit, melon, pineapples, guava, glass of milk, muesli.

Salty crisps

Sweet potato wedges (lightly spiced), crispy vegetable batons.

Fizzy drinks

Fruit juices mixed with sparkling spring water.

Sausages, potato waffles

Grilled chicken and vegetable kebabs, onion mash.

Make fitness or activity fun.. Kids are naturally active, so it shouldn't really need to much encouragement.

Kite Flying, Cycling, County walks, Game of rounders, Frisbee, Miniature golf or pitch and putt something

The whole family can take part in. So if your children are not particularly sporty, don't despair, just getting them to help around with the house work, do the shopping, or walk to school is a great way to get their muscles and heart working.-
