Older can mean better
Older runners are speeding up, research has shown that over the last 10 year the finishing times of runners from older age groups showed the greatest increase in speed. The benefits of regular exercise for older people are reduced blood pressure, increased bone density and improved self esteem. A study done by the national institute of Ageing looked at the exercise habits of men and women aged 70-79 and discovered that, after four years, those who had been inactive from the start were most likely to have become immobile.
Overweight Children Have Disease of Middle Age.
A report from the (BMA) British Medical Association found that Doctors are now seeing in children and young people diseases and disorders once found in the middle-aged and elderly. These include type 2 diabetes, problems with joints and raised blood pressure. This is a huge issue as there are now a million obese children under 16 in the uk .
